    ADA 2nd learning report

    The Adaptation Consortium (Ada) held its second learning event on 16th and 17th February 2017 at the Fairview Hotel, Nairobi. The event brought together Consortium partners from the five counties; national government representatives including The National Treasury, National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), Climate Change Directorate (CCD), Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) and representatives of the five County Governments of Kitui, Wajir, Garissa, Makueni and Isiolo. Development partners - Department for International Development (DfID) and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA); researchers and NGOs also participated in the event.

    The National Drought Management Authority with technical support from GeoData Institute, Resource Advocacy Programme (RAP) and the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED); have facilitated participatory digital mapping of community resources in Isiolo (around 80% of the area) through the Strengthening Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change in Kenya (StARCK) programme to enable local people to identify the key resources and their dynamics that underpin their
    livelihood and adaptation strategies. This work built on earlier resource mapping of rangelands under customary resource management conducted by RAP with IUCN support.
