The Kitui launch held on the 26th March 2014 brought together 1400 participants from both Makueni and Kitui. The Deputy Governor of Kitui county was the chief guest speaker, who strongly spoke on climate change and what measures should be taken to mitigate the changes. 

The launch also attended by Members of the County Assemblies and County Executive; the area member of parliament who is also the minority leader in the national assembly Hon Francis Nyenze, administrators from Kitui county, and Anglicanchurch bishops from Kitui, Makueni and Garissa. Ada consortium was represented by the coordinator, Victor Orindi representatives from Christian Aid, NDMA and Kenya Meteorological Services.

JUNE 2015

  • Proposal writing and site visits: The WAPCs were able embarkon proposal writing on priority projects identified by communities. This includes kwa vonza/yatta, ngomeni, mutito/kaliku and Voo Kyamatu wards. Coupled with proposal writing, the WAPCs of Mutha and ikuthia wards also visited the proposed project site to verify their viabilities and make final decision before finalization of the proposals. The processes were facilitated by ADS-E staff.
  • CAF meeting: The meeting took place in the Kitui to deliberate in Kitui County Adaptation Fund formulation.
  • World Environmental Day: ADS-E participated in W.E.D and shared lessons on adaptation to climate change using the Ada-work in Kitui.
  • Garissa exchange visit: this was aimed at learning about the progress made in the regard to CAF and CIs.
  • TAMD workshops: the aims of the workshops were to training WAPCs on monitoring and evaluations and build their skills to track adaptation and measuring development. This was conducted for WAPC for mutha and and ikutha wards. As part of TAMD process development of theory of change was done with WAPCs of kiomo/kyethani, kwa vonza yatta, tharaka and ngomeni wards.
  • Climate information services training: The training was focusing on secondary intermediaries to able to disseminate climate information to wider beneficiaries.
